How do you calculate the dimensions of a pond liner?
(Length + 2 × depth + 1 m) × (Width + 2 × depth + 1 m). The extra metre allows for a 50 cm overhang on each side to secure the liner.

The Aquitechnics EPDM liner
- 1.1 mm thick EPDM membrane, smooth finish, 1.17 kg/m².
- 11 widths: 3.05 – 4.27 – 4.58 – 4.88 – 6.10 – 7.62 – 8 – 9.15 – 10 – 12.20 – 15.25 m.
- Sold by the m², in lengths from 1 to 25 m in 50 cm increments.
- Remains flexible down to −45 °C; resistant to UV, ozone and frost.
Allow for a 400 g/m² geotextile felt protective underlay: view liners, felts and packs.
Pond layout
- Any shape is possible, but design one that allows water and fish to circulate freely.
- Avoid narrow sections.
- With a liner, overly irregular shapes (L- or U-shaped ponds) result in a lot of wasted liner material.

Steps and levels
- A pond should be at least 80 cm deep for the well-being of small fish, and 1 m deep for larger fish (koi, sturgeon, etc.).
- The other levels are essential for planting.
- The deepest area should cover at least 30% of the pond’s surface area.
