Water hardness is a measure of the divalent ions in the water. A good kH value helps buffer the pH and avoid abnormal spikes during the day. A balanced pH means a pond with minimal algae, and quality water for plants and fish.
Collect dead leaves that fall on the surface of the water with a suitable net or use a vacuum cleaner to remove waste that accumulates on the bottom. You can also use a net. Prune your aquatic plants. This is the ideal time for a final big gardening job in your pond. Remember to always prune your plants 5 to 10 cm above the water level to prevent them from rotting.
