How to breed koi carp?

How to breed koi? To breed koi, you must first select healthy, quality individuals. Make sure you have enough space to accommodate the new fry and keep the water clean and oxygenated.

Next, you will need to choose the right time for breeding. The breeding season for koi depends on their environment and climate, but generally it occurs in spring or summer when temperatures rise.

To encourage breeding, you can increase food and light levels and reduce the rate of water changes. You will also need to separate males and females and put them together when they are ready to breed. Males will produce sperm clouds and females will lay eggs, which can be collected and incubated in a separate jar or tank.

You also need an area of aquatic plants to secure the eggs, and for the carp to rub against, however, most of our customers use spawning brushes.

A koi spawning brush is an accessory used to collect koi eggs during spawning. It is usually broom-shaped and is made from soft, flexible fibers that allow the eggs to be gently picked up without damaging them.

Koi spawning brushes are typically used in breeding tanks where females lay their eggs. When the eggs are laid, they fall to the bottom of the tank and can be difficult to find. The spawning brush makes it easy to pick them up and transfer them to a separate jar or tank for incubation.

It is important to handle koi eggs carefully to avoid damaging them and reducing the fry's chances of survival. Using a spawning brush is an effective way to safely collect eggs.

It is important to monitor the fry closely and keep the water clean and well-oxygenated to ensure their survival and growth. You will also need to feed them a food specifically designed for fry (read more here ) until they are old enough to eat dry food.

Merci pour ce partage ! J’en connais pas encore beaucoup sur les bassins et les espèces qui les composent. Mais les carpes koïs font parties ses incontournables, impossibles à ne pas connaître même quand on s’intéresse à l’aquariophilie. :)
