The low pressure required for pumping is the great advantage of the SuperBead filter, compared to other sand or bead filters, since it is quite possible to work with low pressure pumps (very energy efficient).
Modified sand filters often require pumps 2-4 times more powerful to circulate the same amount of water through the filter.

Each bead filter is characterized by a rinsing process. Dirt particles must be flushed out of the filter. Unlike modified sand filters, the Superbead filter is specially designed for this backwashing process.

Modified sand filters:

• Require more powerful water pumps (= more energy) for normal use
• Offer more resistance, and therefore require larger and more expensive pumps
• Use a 6-way flush valve: complex control
• Requires an external compressor for rinsing: indoor mounting, sheltered from bad weather
• Run the risk of over-rinsing, reducing the performance of the biological process
• Use a large amount of water per rinse cycle
• Have narrow connections, 50/63 mm (= more powerful pump = energy consumption)

The Superbead filter:

• Operates using low-pressure, energy-efficient pumps
• Uses a "gentle" rinse that does not affect the performance of the biological process
• Uses a small amount of rinsing water (Small +/- 150 liters | Large +/- 400 liters)
• Ensures high flow at low pressure (Small max 14 m3/h | Large max 25 m3/h)
• Has a large biological treatment capacity (Small 400 g/day | Large 1 kg/day)

Pumps and energy savings
The low pressure required for pumping is the great advantage of the SuperBead filter, compared to other sand or bead filters, since it is quite possible to work with low pressure pumps (very energy efficient), for example the FlowFriend and Air-Aqua pumps. Modified sand filters often require pumps 2-4 times more powerful to circulate the same amount of water through the filter.

In practice
A SuperBead filter requires a pre-filtration system, such as the SuperSieve (except in the case of an indoor pool). It is easy to set up anywhere, both underwater and outdoors. The SuperBead filter can also be installed at a distance from the pool, provided that the pipe diameters to be respected are taken into account (see box). Since it is a closed filter, an indoor installation does not generate humidity, odors or insect problems. Since the SuperBead has no electrical components, such as a compressor, it is also possible to install it outdoors.

If the waste water connection to the sewer network is remote from the filter, it is also possible to connect the pump in such a way that the waste water is pumped directly to the sewer. A special system is available for this case.
