The IVAR is undoubtedly the most elegant mailbox in our catalog. The slot in the corner makes this mailbox very unique. In front of the entrance of a modern villa, for example, it is almost a work of art!
The IVAR mailbox made of Corten steel has a warm and powerful appearance. This is due to the orange-brown colour of the material that its natural rust layer takes on. Corten steel is also called weather-resistant steel: in fact, weather conditions have a positive influence on this material.

Corten steel is a metal alloy consisting of iron, copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel and chromium. When exposed to the open air, the material becomes covered with a protective layer of rust. This natural rust layer protects the material from further corrosion. The mailbox owes its long service life to it.

  • The thickness of Corten steel is 2 mm.
  • The products are delivered unrusted. The oxidation of Corten steel takes about 4 to 5 months, depending on the weather conditions.
  • Rust can be fixed by applying Owatrol. This is a penetrating rust inhibitor that forms a protective layer against rust. Owatrol protects the mailbox and prevents the Corten steel from fading.

  • Products should be unpacked immediately upon receipt, so as not to trap moisture between the packaging and the product. It can cause uneven rust spots.
  • We do not recommend Corten steel within 2 km of a coastline.
  • During the oxidation process, rust water may be released from the product.
  • Drilling or grinding the material is prohibited.
  • Clean every year by removing dirt from the mailbox with clean tap water.
