Maximum biological filtration optimization
The original sera siporax Professional is suitable for use in freshwater and saltwater aquariums, as well as in ponds. Regardless of the filter type (internal, external, trickle), it maximizes the surface area required for biological cleaning, serving as the optimal substrate for colonization by essential filter bacteria.
In nature, filtration and decomposition processes play a fundamental role. Organic waste is transformed by microorganisms so that it becomes available once again in the natural cycle as nutrients for aquatic plants – harmful substances, such as ammonium, nitrites, and nitrates, are eliminated. Since the amount of waste generated in nature is low compared to the volume of water, the surface of the substrate is sufficient to house a sufficient number of microorganisms.
However, an aquarium is a small biotope in a confined space. In order to ensure complete and safe decomposition of organic waste, it is therefore necessary to maximize the colonization surface area.
This is what sera has achieved to perfection with the extraordinary, highly efficient filter medium sera siporax.
Unlike other filter rings on the market, sera siporax consists of sintered glass. This unique material impresses with its special three-dimensional pore structure, which allows for maximum surface area. At the same time, the fine pores create ideal conditions for colonization by pollutant-degrading bacteria. As it is an interconnected system, water flows around the bacteria continuously, allowing them to break down harmful substances with maximum efficiency. Furthermore, the unique pore structure enables the self-cleaning of the substrate and thus, very long filter maintenance intervals.
In combination with specialized bacteria, sera siporax also allows for a multitude of special applications, such as algae prevention or targeted water conditioning.
Choosing the right Sera product
Check the model and packaging selected before ordering. For a spare part, compare the reference of your device with that of the part to be replaced. For a consumable, follow the indications on its packaging and the Sera manual.
