Compact, simple, efficient The SuperSieve is available in several models: Medium, Large and eXtra Large.

The most important aspect of a gravity filter model is the internal overflow, which has been incorporated into all Air-Aqua models at the lowest possible location. This internal overflow, where the water flows and spills over the filter element, actually determines the capacity of the filter. This makes the SuperSieve even easier to use. Thus, if the distance between the bottom drain and the SuperSieve is greater, the flow will be higher than the flow obtained by filtering with less internal overflow.

The SuperSieve Medium and Large both have a 3 x 110 mm inlet, to offer the possibility of connecting 2 bottom drains for example, in combination with a skimmer. The XL model even has a 4 x 110mm inlet. In addition, the SuperSieve offers the possibility to easily mount 1 (M and L model) or 3 UV lamps (XL model) at the bottom.
The control valve opens and closes completely at the slightest change in the water level under the filter element. The SuperSieve thus has a stable and high water level under the filter element. This is important to prevent the pump from starving for air.
The filter element is precisely sealed with special rubbers directly in the housing, so that (dirty) water cannot pass the filter element without being filtered.

Water is directed through baffles to the filter element. A guide plate is mounted under the filter element to allow the water to flow calmly and as far as possible from the 90 mm connections of the pump.
The SuperSieve has different 90mm pump connections to allow an additional skimmer to be connected. A coarser filter element (700 microns) and a cover are available as an option for each model.

Internal overflow
The internal filter overflow is the distance from the top side of the housing to where (internal) water flows to the filter element. The greater the distance, the easier and more flexible it is to use. As water flows to the SuperSieve according to the principle of communicating vessels, the maximum available water pressure present is determined by this height. If the height difference is 26 cm (SuperSieve Large), this is comparable to a water pressure of 0.026 bar. Water pressure is needed to move water from the pond to the filter. For installation, the SuperSieve must be at least 3 cm above the maximum water level and fluctuations in the water level must also be taken into account. Suppose this level drops by 5 cm (for example due to filter rinsing), the pressure would drop from 0.026 to 0.018 bar. If a filter has a height difference of only 17 cm, in this case only 9 cm, i.e. 0.009 bar, remains to pass the water through the pond pipe and make it flow to the filtered. This can cause critical situations, because there would not be enough water arriving at the pump. The pump often receives air, which causes annoying noises and cavitation of the pump (therefore accelerated wear).
