CAUTION : Adding CO2 just before dark does not work! Plants do not absorb CO2 at all in the dark. The use of CO2 tablets is not harmful to the environment and, if the prescribed doses are respected, there is no danger for fish, plants, domestic animals, birds, insects or micro-organisms. Adding CO2 to the water can temporarily lower the pH. It is advisable to regularly measure the water quality. Too low or too high a pH reduces the possibility of nutrient uptake by plants.
