How do you clean sludge from a swimming pool?

How to clean mud from a swimming pool?

If you know how to DIY a pool vacuum , your outdoor pool will always be clean. It will really give the joy of taking aquatic cures. A private swimming pool built in the countryside or in the courtyard of a private house, brings a lot of pleasure.

At the same time, you need to understand that such a structure requires regular cleaning. If you do not clean it, very quickly you will see the appearance of sediment deposits and the formation of silt, the chic pool will turn into a large puddle , in which frogs and other animals will begin to proliferate.

It is clear that no one will use such an unattractive tank. The specific interval between cleanings is selected taking into account the location of the pool (in the pavilion, on the street), its geometric parameters (length, width, capacity) and the frequency of its use.

Pool cleaning

It is recommended to clean the external structures every 3-4 days. This frequency is due to the fact that they constantly receive debris and leaves. Even if you have equipped your swimming pool with a high quality filtration system, it must be cleaned on time, because no filter can prevent the accumulation of silt in the tank.

The water with which the pool is filled, is usually not at all difficult to purify, there is a special system for this task. But cleaning the bottom of the pool and its walls from sediment requires a lot of effort. Previously, a similar operation was carried out as follows: the water was emptied from the pond and the sediment was removed manually. This procedure required a lot of time and effort. And the cost of water that has to be constantly drained and poured is not at all negligible.

Drainage pumps solve these problems. They make it easier to clean the pool of silt mainly. Especially if you have installed an automatic or semi-automatic pump. Similar equipment from well-known manufacturers independently cleans aquatic structures using special brushes. A perfect option. But, unfortunately, submersible devices are not within everyone's reach. However, some do not wish to equip their private swimming pool with such a pump.

After starting, the handheld vacuum begins to clean accumulated sediment and silt and any remaining contaminants from the sides and bottom. The dirt is sucked out of the device and retained in the filter. The technique is simple and straightforward. Its only drawback is that you have to change the filters of the vacuum quite often. Manual cleaners are ideal for plastic pools, inflatable pools and all other small capacity pools. And the most important thing is that you can make a vacuum cleaner for the pool at the summer cottage yourself, having spent only a few cents on such an operation.

How to clean the mud in the bottom of the pool without a vacuum cleaner?

There are two ways to clean the bottom of your pool:

In the first case, you must drain all the water and clean manually, using brushes to loosen the deposited silt and clean the surface of the slab. Naturally, this method is very time consuming, including being messy.

The second is to make a cleaner yourself. To do this, you must first prepare yourself by visiting a plumbing store and purchasing several products, including:

  • Polypropylene pipe;
  • Corrugated pipe;
  • Rubber seal ;
  • A brush or other device with which mechanical cleaning will be carried out.

As for the diameter of the materials, it is necessary to start from the diameter of the filtration pipe. Do not buy too long corrugated pipe, take 0.5m less than the length of the pool.

First, disconnect the skimmer from the filter and replace it with a corrugated pipe. Use a gasket to prevent water leaks. Connect the other end of the pipe to the polypropylene pipe, also using a gasket. Then put on the suction nozzle. If you're using a plunger, be sure to make a few notches in the neck so it can slide over the surface and not stick to it. However, the best option is still the brush. Today, stores offer a wide range of such products, so you can choose the option that suits you.

Use the pumped water to irrigate your garden or vegetable patch. It will help you save water resources properly. In addition, the silt contained in the drained water can be used as compost. The only disadvantage of this type of cleaning is the reduction of the water level. Thus, at the end of the procedure, you will have to fill it in entirely again.

Methods of cleaning a pool of slime / Cleaning methods are divided into two categories: physical and chemical.

The physical method

Physical cleaning refers to treatment with a vacuum cleaner, net, brush or filter. All coarse particles and suspended solids are removed using these devices.

Filters are the most powerful tools. Working independently, they remove most visible and invisible particles including sand, silt and diatomaceous algae.

The chemical method

This method is mainly used as a means of prevention against slime and the appearance of algae and other organisms.

Chlorination is an affordable, proven and effective method. Water treated with bleach stays disinfected for a long time. This economical method also has drawbacks. Chief among them is the risk of developing lung and allergic diseases.

Ozonation is the most environmentally friendly method. Ozone is a powerful oxidant that disinfects water 100%. Once released into the environment, it mixes with air to form natural chemical compounds. At the same time, all beneficial trace elements remain in the water.

Ultraviolet irradiation eliminates all harmful microorganisms from the water. The organoleptic properties are not affected. But this treatment does not destroy the harmful elements present in the highly contaminated water and is only effective in the event of daily exposure.
