What is the quantity of fish to respect in a pond?
How many fish should you respect in a garden pond? In a natural pond, we recommend 50 to 100 kg per hectare. The greater the trophic potential of the pond, the greater the quantity of fish discharged.
Population management remains the primary objective of a pond. How to manage populations in a pond or in a garden pond?
For a pond of less than 1000 liters, we recommend in theory barely 100G of fish. In fact, that represents 5-6 goldfish. It is too small a pond to place koi carp in.
From 10,000 litres, we can recommend one koi carp per cubic meter. Fish and carp grow all their life but in too small a space, life expectancy will be limited.
Each basin is nevertheless a special case. How to get an average? A 10,000 liter pond can accommodate around twenty 20CM fish. We suddenly count 40CM of fish per 1000 liters from 10,000 liters. However, we advise you to seek the advice of a specialist so as not to be overcrowded.
