Silicate Ex quickly removes silicates from seawater. Excessively high silicate levels are the main cause of brown algae (diatoms). By removing silicates with Colombo Silicate Ex, diatoms can no longer grow and will disappear. Normally, a silicate content of 0.50 mg/l is acceptable, but to eliminate diatoms, it must be reduced to 0. Silicate Ex is made of porous spheres for maximum water flow and high removal capacity. Dosage: 100 ml per 200 liters of seawater. Place Silicate Ex in a fine filter bag. Rinse Silicate Ex well with cold water to remove any dust. Place the filter bag in a location with good water flow. When the silicate level has reached the desired level, remove Silicate Ex for later use. Please note: Silicate Ex also binds phosphates. Therefore, remove phosphates with Colombo Phosphate Ex to improve the effectiveness of Silicate Ex. Also, do not add phosphates while using Silicate Ex.
