If you have read our article/guide on cyanobacteria, you have understood one essential thing. Cyanobacteria are almost never the real problem. They are the symptom of a pond running out of breath.
The good news? In most cases, it is entirely possible to restore a stable body of water without starting from scratch. But this requires thinking like a biologist… not just a treatment applicator.

Imagine a room closed for several months. The air becomes heavy. Humidity sets in. Odors appear. The first instinct is not to spray perfume.
We open the windows. For a pond, it’s exactly the same logic. A body of water that no longer circulates gradually becomes oxygen-poor. Some areas stagnate completely. The bottom continues to consume oxygen without ever being replenished.
Result:
The primary goal is therefore to reactivate the metabolism of the body of water. That is precisely the role of a surface oxygenating emulsifier. Unlike a simple decorative fountain, a true surface aerator is designed to:
In just a few hours, fish behavior often becomes calmer. Within a few days, bacteria already have a much more favorable environment.
At Foudebassin, we regularly work on large private ponds, fishing waters, estates, and swimming areas. Our observation is simple.
The larger a body of water is…the more natural mixing becomes insufficient.
The Aquitechnics emulsifiers allow effective treatment of several hundred, or even several thousand square meters depending on the models. They often form the cornerstone of sustainable restoration.

A very common mistake is to want to remove all the sludge mechanically. In some cases, this is necessary. But very often, it is possible to naturally speed up its breakdown.
Sludge is mainly made up of organic matter:
The bacteria naturally present in your pond perfectly know how to break down…provided they have enough oxygen. That’s why we always emphasize this sequence:
When the pond is well oxygenated, biological solutions like BactoVase help accelerate the natural breakdown of sludge. This is not a miracle product. The goal is to help beneficial bacteria regain optimal working conditions. The blacker and more organic the sludge, the more effective Bactovase will be for your pond.
Less sludge often means:

Few owners truly understand the role of phosphorus. However… Without available phosphorus, massive proliferation becomes much more difficult. The problem is that sediments sometimes contain a lot of it.
When the bottom lacks oxygen, some of this phosphorus is released into the water. Cyanobacteria then have a true all-you-can-eat buffet. Some mineral solutions can fix this phosphorus and make it much less available. This is the case with Nautex, a very specific chalk for aquatic environments that helps combat eutrophication of aquatic environments.
When the water body analysis shows a high availability of phosphorus, Nautex constitutes a particularly interesting solution. Its goal is not to kill the cyanobacteria.
Its goal is much smarter: gradually reduce their food.
By limiting available phosphorus, you naturally reduce their ability to bloom.

Sometimes… The imbalance is already too advanced.
The water becomes opaque. Blue-green patches cover a significant part of the surface. Swimming becomes complicated or even very dangerous. Then you need to intervene more quickly.
CyanoClear acts directly on cyanobacteria through an oxidation process. It allows for quickly reducing an already present bloom. But it’s important to understand one thing.

Treating cyanobacteria without addressing the causes is like pulling weeds without removing their roots.
If:
cyanobacteria will often end up returning. That’s why we almost always recommend a comprehensive approach.
Every year, we receive similar calls: "I treated twice... but they come back." In reality, the treatment often worked. These are simply the causes that have never disappeared.
Imagine a house with a leaking roof. You can mop the floor every day. As long as the roof remains leaky…the problem will come back. Cyanobacteria work in exactly the same way.
When we assist a natural pond owner, our approach is almost always the same. We first seek to understand:
This approach sometimes requires a bit more patience… …but it offers much more lasting results.
We do not believe in miracle products. We believe in the functioning of living systems. Every pond has its own story. Its balance. Its constraints. Its inhabitants.
Our role is not simply to sell a product. Our role is to help you understand your water body so that it gradually regains its natural functioning.
This philosophy has guided our advice for years.
By doing so, you no longer just fight cyanobacteria. You sustainably restore the health of your water body.
Every pond is unique. A photo, an estimate of the surface area, depth, and some information about your fish often allow us to quickly identify the most suitable strategy.
At Foudebassin, we support hundreds of pond, natural pond, and private lake owners every year in restoring their ecosystem.
