Biobooster, an ally for pond maintenance
Among other items for pond maintenance, today we are going to look at Biobooster products from Aquatic Science. While the name may remain enigmatic to newcomers, it is a super effective product for treating filamentous algae. At the same time, Biobooster will cause organic matter lining the bottom of the pond to rise to the surface.
This will not only decrease the quantity of this matter, but we will also observe a significant reduction in sludge. Finally, Biobooster is a product that we have been testing internally for quite a few years. In fact, we conducted an aquarium test to clearly demonstrate how the product works.
How to use Biobooster?
Using Biobooster is relatively easy and does not require complex preparation. The Biobooster tub comes with a small scoop that will be used to measure the amount of product to use. More concretely, it involves sprinkling the pond with granules, depending on the volume of water. You should count approximately two scoops of Biobooster per cubic meter of water.
Once this is done, you only have to wait a few minutes before the filamentous algae begin to be limited. In fact, Biobooster acts very quickly and quite impressively: you will notice small bubbles and quite a bit of white foam forming. Pushed by the effect of the oxygen released, grime and other organic matter will rise to the surface along with them.
The use of Biobooster is an impressive phenomenon at first glance, but perfectly normal. As dead leaves rise, they can be collected using a landing net.

At the same time, the use of Biobooster will stabilize the hardness of the pond water. Indeed, it is a mineral-based product: it is therefore capable of raising both the GH and pH levels.
After Biobooster: reintroducing bacteria into the pond
After using Biobooster+, we will add bacteria back into the pond. This is an important step in pond maintenance, considering that Biobooster will destroy purifying bacteria that are necessary for the pond. It is therefore a powerful product, but rest assured: it is safe for fish. On the contrary, thanks to the rebalancing of the pond's minerals, the fish will find themselves in better health.

A preventive treatment against filamentous algae
The next step is therefore to add the bacteria back. This also acts as a preventive treatment against filamentous algae. Of course, many remain convinced that an ecosystem takes care of itself. And that is absolutely true. However, the smaller the pond, the more it will heat up. It will surely encounter difficulties in protecting itself from algae and other parasites.
In fact, a garden pond is not a large natural pond. It did not form thousands of years ago and, by default, it is an artificially created structure. It is therefore quite logical that we build its biology step by step. And, with time and conscientious monitoring, we will be able to perform fewer and fewer treatments.
Filtration, waste destruction, and bacterial activity
Biobooster acts as a true regenerator for the pond and promotes filtration as well as the activity of detritivorous bacteria. These granules are intended to boost the activity of detritivorous micro-organisms, which are essential to the well-being of the pond. This product therefore helps to avoid sludge in the pond and naturally reduces filaments and other organic waste.
In detail, Biobooster+ is a concentrated formulation, but free of heavy metals, phytosanitary agents, and products toxic to fish. On the contrary, the fish are literally invigorated after the treatment: they become healthier and more vigorous!
Biobooster+ and Bactogen: the winning combo
Once added to the pond, the concentrated pearls begin to diffuse. In the space of a few hours, the effect on filaments and other waste is already clearly visible. Biobooster+ will then amplify the development of detritivorous bacteria (Bactogen) and nitrifying bacteria. This will lead to a radical reduction in the consequences of excess organic matter.
The combined use of Biobooster+ and Bactogen thus makes it possible to obtain a lasting result, often over several months. Note that the dosage of product to use will depend on the volume of water present in the pond.
Some important reminders for proper pond maintenance
Pond maintenance is not complex, but must still be done while considering a few basics. In fact, it is essential to perform a systematic test before carrying out any treatment based on pond products. This will inform you about the general state of the pond, as well as the consequent measures that will need to be taken.
