How to calculate the size of your liner

Measure the hole once dug, at its longest, widest and deepest points. For each side: pond dimension + 2 × depth + 1 m of margin for anchoring.

Liner length = maximum length + 2 × maximum depth + 1 m
Liner width = maximum width + 2 × maximum depth + 1 m

  1. Calculate both sides with the formula above (the 1 m margin = 50 cm on each side).
  2. For the shorter side, take the next available width up: 3.05 · 4.27 · 4.58 · 4.88 · 6.10 · 7.62 · 8 · 9.15 · 10 · 12.20 · 15.25 m.
  3. For the other side, choose the length, from 1 m to 25 m in 50 cm steps.

Why put underlay under the liner?

Under the weight of the water, a stone or root creates a pressure point on the membrane. The 400 g/m² underlay spreads the load and protects the EPDM. For about €1 more per m², the pack makes installation safer.

Frequently asked questions

What area should I order?

Add twice the depth and 1 m of margin to the length and the width, then multiply the two results. The calculator on the product page then shows the area.

Is the liner guaranteed?

Yes, the Aquitechnics EPDM liner is guaranteed for 10 years against UV defects.

Which thickness should I choose?

Our 1.1 mm liner is suitable for garden ponds, lakes, natural swimming pools, waterfalls and streams.

Is the liner safe for fish?

Yes, it is compatible with fish, aquatic plants and the micro-organisms in the pond.

Do I need underlay under the liner?

It is recommended: the 400 g/m² underlay spreads the pressure of stones and roots under the weight of the water. Choose the liner + underlay pack (€16.96/m²) or add underlay on its own to the liner.

What about a very large pond?

Beyond 15.25 × 25 m, call us: we offer sheets of up to 930 m² without seams.
