How to install a preformed pond? A preformed pond can be installed to attract frogs, squirrels and birds (as it provides a very comfortable natural habitat for this fauna).
But it can also be used to embellish a large garden that is a little sad. That said, preformed ponds are not that easy to set up. Fortunately, this guide will be your best friend to help you install your preformed pond!
Even if a preformed pool saves you a lot of design worries, it is not easy to install it correctly the first time. So, pay close attention to the instructions below!
To install your new water point, you will need these materials:
Finally, always consult the instructions for use and the safety instructions of the product you have purchased before installing it in your garden.
First of all, choose a place where your pond can benefit from about 5 hours of sunshine per day. Also, avoid placing it in a hollow to prevent rainwater from running off. Finally, do not forget to place it near your home to facilitate the connection of the pump and the regular maintenance of the water.
Lay your pond upside down on the ground and mark its outline using a spray paint or a garden hose, leaving a margin of 5 cm around the perimeter of the pond. This leeway will allow you to ensure that your pool will have enough space when it is installed.
Then view your pond from all angles, even from an upstairs window. If it doesn't work for you, try again until it does.
If you are digging a hole in the lawn, remove the sod first. It can be used as compost. At this stage, dig the hole carefully, being careful not to dig too deep. Use a tape measure to measure the depth of the hole and remove stones if there are any. If you leave them in the hole, they could damage the tarp. Finally, level your pond by placing sand at the bottom of the hole.
Also plan to dig a trench up to your electrical network to bury the wires under sheath (between 60 and 85 cm). Also place a warning device 20 cm above. This way, you can easily supply your pool with electricity.
Place your preformed pond in the hole and press it into the sand.
When you think the basin is perfectly positioned, start adding water. Only put a small amount of water to start (⅓ of the basin). Then, leave your pond like this for 2 to 3 days in order to settle the soil well with the weight of the water.
To fill the sides of the pond, use as much sand as necessary. To firm it down, sprinkle it with water. This will help you fill the empty spaces as much as possible. The objective of this fifth step? Prevent the sides of the basin from deforming under water pressure. Once you have completely filled in the sides of the pool, use earth or gravel to embellish the ground around the pool.
After 2 to 3 days of waiting, completely fill your pool with water. To finish the pool, think of the Japanese steps that allow you to hide the plastic edge of the pool. Place your filter and all your electrical appliances, a fountain, plants and possibly your fish.
