Matala is a filter media made from looped polypropylene fibers that form layers and shapes of varying thicknesses. The shape and thickness of the fiber used will determine the structure of the filter media, its specific surface, its density and its rigidity.
The Matala can host an entire ecosystem of organic matter degradation. Its non-woven structure is ideal for trapping waste and its rigidity makes it easy to clean. In our Shark filters, we have also chosen this media for its unique specificity: progressive filtration. The use of several progressive densities of Matala® makes it possible to trap waste particles of all sizes by guaranteeing good water circulation without preferential passages. There is no need to arrange empty spaces between the mats, the filtration is therefore less cumbersome.
Advantages • Easy cleaning • Cuts easily • Progressive filtration • Does not deteriorate over time • High free volume for regular flow
