How to get rid of duckweed in a pond?

This is a problem that is often encountered in bodies of water where the water is stagnant. These lenses come with the birds or the addition of new aquatic plants. These lentils are invasive because their reproduction is asexual. Each lens will split into two and then into two again and so on. They also tend to thrive in strong water enriched with nitrates and phosphates.

How to eliminate duckweed in a pond? We strongly advise against the use of chemicals. The ecosystem of an aquatic environment is extremely sensitive to harmful products. To remove duckweed

• Reduce intake of nutrient-rich water
• Reduce surface water runoff
• Reduce nutrient-rich water inputs by installing filtration .
• Remove most of it with a fine-mesh scoop.
• Added grass carp (white grass carp) to your pond.
• Installation of anair pump to promote oxygenation of the pond.
• Installation of a surface skimmer , which will vacuum these lenses automatically. Remember to empty it regularly!

Are duckweed toxic to the aquatic environment? According to some experts, these lenses create an opaque veil on the surface of the water which prevents oxygenating plants from carrying out photosynthesis. This is quite logical, so it is advisable to eliminate them quickly.
