Les waders ! Un outil indispensable pour travailler dans votre bassin

The waders! An essential tool for working in your pond

The maintenance of a basin or a pond is of paramount importance, because a basin represents a jewel which by its essence requires regular maintenance and cleaning. Taking care of your pond will sometimes require carrying out some specific work in areas of your pond that are rather difficult to access. In this delicate situation, the various tools such as landing nets, pond cleaners, etc. will no longer be of much use to you in keeping your pond in good condition. In addition to these aforementioned tools, you will then need to use waders. Wading pants, also called waders, are essential equipment that will allow you to access all areas of your pool without any difficulty. The waders will therefore allow you to work easily in any area of your pool or pond.

The different types of waders

You must choose your waders according to what you want to do with them. As a pond owner, the quality of your waders should logically be different from the waders of someone who only puts on their waders occasionally a few times a year. The waders are excellently waterproof and available in 3 different materials, namely: PVC, neoprene, and breathable membranes.

PVC waders

PVC waders are very robust and easily resist vegetation as well as various frictions. Indeed, PVC waders will make it easier for you to cross your pond if your pond contains brambles, rocks, small branches... PVC waders are suitable for summer temperatures and do not require special maintenance. PVC waders are very affordable and also easy to repair with the simple addition of the patch. On the other hand, PVC waders are not very suitable for spring temperatures and are not at all suitable for winter temperatures. Warm underwear is therefore recommended if you have to work in your pool with PVC waders during winter or spring. Also, PVC waders do not evacuate perspiration and its “slipper” models are less widespread.

Neoprene waders

The maintenance of your pond cannot only be limited to the summer seasons. However, you will need to work in your pond in cold water during winter times. Unfortunately, the cold is an unpleasant feeling that can quickly force you to cut short the work in your pool. On this, you will then have to use waders which can allow you to stay warm. In this specific case, neoprene waders are recommended. Neoprene waders are designed to provide great thermal insulation. As a result, neoprene waders will allow you to work in your pool in winter while staying warm. Neoprene waders resist chafing and are perfectly suited to winter and spring temperatures. Also, they do not require special maintenance. On the other hand, neoprene waders are not suitable for crossing vegetation (brambles, small branches, etc.). Also, they are unsuitable for use in the summer period because they are too hot. Neoprene waders do not wick away sweat and are also difficult to repair. Neoprene waders are affordable and available in boot and bootie styles

Waders in breathable membranes

Waders made of breathable fabrics are certainly expensive, but they will allow you to work in your pond without getting hot while being free in your movements. The breathable membrane waders are very comfortable, light and flexible. The breathable membrane waders adapt to most morphologies and easily evacuate heat and perspiration. By working in your pond with waders made of breathable membranes, you no longer run the risk of being too tight in your equipment or drenched in sweat. Waders made of breathable membranes are perfectly suited to summer and spring temperatures. Also, they dry quickly and are easy to maintain and repair. On the other hand, waders made of breathable membranes are not very resistant and unsuitable for winter temperatures. Wearing warm underwear will be mandatory if you want to work in your pool in the middle of winter with breathable membrane waders. Waders made of breathable membranes take up less space than other types of waders. They are easily storable and are available in boot and slipper models.

Characteristics of wader boots and shoes

The majority of PVC and neoprene waders these days are designed and offered with integrated boots. These types of waders are easy to put on and no longer require the use of wading shoes. However, depending on your morphology, you may have to wear either a wader in your size with your boots that hug your feet or a wader taller than you. However, these integrated boots made of rubber are not durable and therefore wear out quickly. Waders made of breathable membranes are generally designed with neoprene liners requiring the wearing of wading shoes. Thus, with the breathable waders you will be able to comfortably choose the shoe size that suits you according to your morphology and according to your tastes (models). Also, you will have to choose the sole of these shoes. There are felt soles, rubber soles or mixed soles. If you are going to spend a lot of time inside your pond, you should opt for felt soles. These soles have the characteristic of being more stable in the water than the rubber ones. Also, the felt soles have good grip on rocks, pebbles, pebbles... but they slip on the ground. On the other hand, if you are going to spend more time outside your pond, you should opt for rubber soles. These soles are more resistant out of the water and more gripping on land.

Put pond boots on your waders!

Switch to perfection by opting to wear pond boots on your waders now. Pond boots not only combine strength, resistance and durability, but also represent the ideal boots and shoes for working in a pond. It is certainly true that waders are either equipped with integrated boots or are compatible with special wading shoes. But we must note that waders are basically designed for fishing activities. As a result, these integrated boots and special shoes are not necessarily sized to be used to work effectively in a pond. Generally, these built-in boots and special shoes are either over-optimized or under-optimized for working in a pond. Since pond boots are optimized for use in a pond then come at the right time to reinforce your waders. They represent the middle ground between over-optimization and under-optimization. The pond boots will therefore validly replace the integrated boots as well as the special shoes of your waders. Having a wader to do work in your pond is a very good choice. All you need to do is perfect this choice by putting some pond boots on your waders.

Pond boots are available in different materials and for every taste. They are distinguished by their resistance and grip inside and outside the water. Pond boots combined with your waders will allow you to work in peace in your pond. By choosing pond boots for your waders: - You will spend less upfront by avoiding investing in boots and shoes that are over-optimized for pond maintenance - You are ensuring that you are investing in a quality tool that is not under-optimized for the work to be carried out in a pond - You will easily circulate in your pond strewn with brambles, branches, rocks... - You will benefit from optimal comfort for your feet - ... To work in your pond, make the best choice by reinforcing your waders with pond boots.
