Koninginnegelei (royal jelly) is a glandular secretion of worker bees that serves as food for one- and two-day-old worker larvae, queen larvae and adult queens. Royal jelly is harvested from the cells when the queen larvae are 2 to 3 days old.

• 110 to 210 mg of jelly can be harvested per cell.
