In nature, CO2 (carbon dioxide) is an essential nutrient for virtually all plant organisms. This applies to plants that grow on land, but certainly also to aquatic plants. Under the influence of (sun) light, plants absorb CO2 and convert it into sugars necessary for growth. CO2 is therefore a very important factor in the development of plants in ponds.

If oxygenating plants such as ceratophyllum, elodea and pondweed stagnate in their growth, it is because there is a shortage of carbon dioxide in the pond (roughly "CO2"), which is an essential element for plants. In well-maintained pools, microorganisms promote the production of carbon dioxide. In recently built ponds or in ponds, micro-organisms do not develop properly, carbon dioxide is often lacking or insufficient.

DOSAGE

• Add 1 tablet per 500 liters of water and repeat the dose every week.
• In contact with water, the effervescent tablets release their CO2 in the pool.
• CAUTION : Adding CO2 just before dark does not work! Plants do not absorb CO2 at all in the dark. The use of CO2 tablets is not harmful to the environment and, if the prescribed doses are respected, there is no danger for fish, plants, domestic animals, birds, insects or micro-organisms. Adding CO2 to the water can temporarily lower the pH. It is advisable to regularly measure the water quality. Too low or too high a pH reduces the possibility of nutrient uptake by plants. However, the pond must be able to generate enough micro-organisms itself after a certain time, thanks for example to the supply of a good substrate and Bacterial producing CO2 naturally. You can use the CO2 tablets for a very long time without worry.
