Description du produit :

Daruma, Daruma: I choose a goal and I draw you one eye. When I have achieved it, I will draw you the other one.

An extraordinary Daruma for an extraordinary purpose
Following tradition, this special Daruma's eyebrows are shaped like cranes and the beard on its cheeks is reminiscent of a turtle's scales. Both animals are symbols of longevity in Japan. In addition to the lucky kanji painted on its chin, it has others on each side of its head that express the success of a goal and the accomplishment of great aspirations.

What is it about?
Daruma 達磨, also called wishing figurine, is a Japanese lucky charm. Made with papier-mâché, it is a representation of the monk Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism. According to legend, the latter achieved enlightenment after meditating alone in a cave for 9 years, but he lost his arms and legs which had atrophied. Hence the particular shape of Daruma.

How to proceed
Choose a goal and draw a first eye to Daruma. When you have achieved it, you will draw the second eye as a sign of gratitude. As a learning experience, you will note how you have achieved your goal: this is a moment of great personal satisfaction. If you do not get what you want, you can then burn your Daruma at the end of the year. This simply means that you will look for other ways to achieve your goal.

The Spirit of Daruma
This figurine reminds us that if we are determined and persevering, we will achieve the goal we set for ourselves. In this sense, it is essential that the goal be specific and achievable. It is not a question of buying a Daruma and then waiting for things to happen as if by magic: Daruma motivates us and invites us to strive to succeed. In Japan, any occasion is good to offer a Daruma, especially birthdays and New Year.
