The Shark Bead is a pressure filter providing mechanical and biological treatment of ornamental or bathing pond water. It contains a substrate composed of floating plastic balls, the specific shape of which allows bacterial overgrowth. The ''good'' bacteria will settle around these balls to form the biofilm. This bacterial development prevents even the finest waste.

  • Suitable for ponds under 35 m³ with fish (30 adult koi)

We sell this filtration system as a complete kit with choice of UV device:

  • COMPLETE KIT N°1:
-Pro JET EVO SE 36/8 Mono pump
    -Polyvortex
    -Shark Bead 35
    -AS-UV S35
  • COMPLETE KIT N°2:
-Pro JET EVO SE 36/8 Mono pump
    -Polyvortex
    -Shark Bead 35
    -Uvozone 750

The water enters the tank through a pump. It then rises through the balls colonized by the bacteria, then crosses the strainers and progresses to the multiway valve and then returns to the basin. The high-flow booster, mounted on a non-return valve, is useful when cleaning the filter.
  • How does mechanical filtration work?

Decantation eliminates the largest particles in suspension (>50μ). The finest particles (>20μ) are retained in the beads thanks to the network created by the bacterial biofilm. This is called bio-absorption. This network developed on a microscopic scale retains the majority of waste, even invisible to the naked eye.

  • How does biological purification take place?

The bacteria growing on the surface of the balls form a biofilm which transforms toxic nitrogenous waste (ammonia, nitrite) into nitrates. At maturity, this biofilm develops into a compact “magma”. Biological purification is then optimal and the denitrification necessary for the fight against algae can take place. Filtration substrate for Shark Bead (12.5 Kg/25L)

Centrifugal prefilters
The polyvortex is a real water ''dust remover''. It allows to reduce the maintenance of the main filter, whose rinsing will be less frequent and will only require a few liters of water.

The device works on the principle of centrifugal filtration. The water is sent under pressure in multiple “hydro cyclones” which generate a strong centrifugal effect. The sediments decant in the center of the whirlpool and accumulate in a transparent collector cleaned by simple emptying, without any other intervention on the current operation of the filtration. Clean water rises to follow the original path to the main filter. The polyvortex is placed directly behind the pump whose pressure it uses to create the mini vortices. It consumes very little water and does not need to be supplied with electricity.

  • Polyvortex 63 mm inlet and outlet connection.
  • The drain is in 1'' to be glued (F 32 mm or M 40 mm adaptable).
  • Flow: max. 30 m3 /h – Min. 3 m3 /h

How to ensure effective pressure filtration?
To do this, there are 5 essential points:

  1. The pump: provide a pump to ensure good circulation and compensate for network pressure drops
  2. Effective pre-filtration with a polyvortex as shown in the diagram and on page 39. Please note that this very effective pre-filter for eliminating waste up to 0.05 mm can very quickly clog in the event of heavy pollution
  3. Bacterial and mechanical filtration thanks to the Shark Bead filter
  4. UV filtration to guarantee water transparency and the elimination of germs and algae
  5. Hydraulics, to have good hydraulics, it is necessary to pay attention to the following 3 points:
    1. Provide an adequate number of suction and discharge points corresponding to the flow
    2. Position these suction and discharge points in such a way as to ensure good water circulation
    3. Use pipes with an adequate diameter in relation to the flow of water to be transported

* Beyond the recommended nominal volume, confirmation from Aquatic Science is required before validating the choice of filtration.

** Each skimmer, drain, discharge must be supplied individually to limit pressure drops and allow regulation to distributors and collectors. For discharge nozzles, in order to achieve flow rates greater than 5 m3/h, either remove the ball joint or choose a nozzle sized for a higher flow rate.
