Aquarium that gets dirty too quickly, what to do?

Aquarium that gets dirty too quickly, what to do? The aquarium is a living environment and many parameters have a direct impact on the quality of the water.

If you ever notice that the water gets dirty much too quickly, know that there are solutions to limit or even in some cases prevent the water from becoming cloudy. This is a known phenomenon and there are several solutions.

be patient

Even if you see yellowish water, the first solution is to wait a week. Indeed, it is perfectly possible for the aquarium to clean itself. In normal times, this closed environment is thus capable of regenerating itself naturally.

This phenomenon can then appear simply because of the activity of the fish. With the movement of these, they take off the grains of your aquarium resulting in a yellowish dust. After a few hours the water will become much cleaner when the fish are resting again.

The use of a better pump

This accessory is essential in an aquarium, because it ensures its proper functioning. Through this filter, tap water undergoes a specific treatment before becoming embedded in your tank. As a result, you benefit from a purification rate of 95%.

This eliminates the majority of organic residues and flora. Without the use of a pump, the fish evolve in a dirty environment. However, you might see the same result if you don't use the correct device. Therefore, we recommend that you check whether the pump is suitable for the type of aquarium you have and, if necessary, do not hesitate to invest in a more efficient model.

The importance of changing the water every week

Always with a view to having clear water in your aquarium, it is important to change the water every week, but with an amount between 20 and 30 percent. Without your intervention, the dirt may gain ground and this leads to the appearance of cloudy water, in some cases suffocating if you have sensitive species.

In order to more easily regulate this environment, the solution consists in renewing 20 to 30% of the liquid. At first, you remove the necessary amount of water and add a previously filtered composition. Under these conditions, it is necessary to use a hose to suck up the fluid, being careful not to suck in your fish. When the volume of the container drops to three quarters, you can stop the suction.

Have you checked your aquarium filter?

If your filter is not maintained properly, you may observe gray colored water. It is an accessory that is located directly outside or inside the container. Its role is to continually retain impurities in your aquarium.

If ever the filter shows some signs of failure, the entire aquarium will suffer the cost. The water becomes unclean and to overcome these obstacles, it is enough to check and clean your filter at a frequency of once a month. If you ever observe the same result, it is possible that the sponges are unfortunately out of order and you will have to consider replacing them.

The use of live plants

If you use decorative accessories, you know that these various elements have absolutely no effect on the cleaning of the liquid. But this is not the case if you use real aquatic plants, because they will have a beneficial effect.

Plants are indeed able to feed themselves by using organic matter, directly rejected by fish. Therefore, they act directly on the purification of the aquatic environment and assume the role of cleaner. So don't hesitate to use the right aquatic plants if you want to review the transparency of your water. In order to keep them alive as long as possible, immediately remove dead roots and leaves.

Watch out for excess food

If your fish do not ingest all of the food, then it turns into additional waste. Little by little, the food decomposes and directly affects the transparency of the water. So to get around this problem, just reduce the amount of food.

The use of chemicals

In the trade, you will find various products such as coagulants, making it possible to agglomerate various particles. If you have too much nitrogen, you can also find products to achieve better balance in your aquarium. But in case of mild disorders, it is always better to use aquarium bacteria.

The positioning of your aquarium

To prevent your tank from getting dirty too quickly, you can also move your aquarium. Too much exposure to the sun encourages the growth of algae, making the action of the filter in your aquarium more complex. So to slow down the proliferation of undesirable plants, favor a place that is certainly bright, but sheltered from direct sunlight.
