Quel aquarium pour des poissons rouges?

Which aquarium for goldfish?

Wondering what is the ideal aquarium for your goldfish? Then this guide is here to help you.

Everyone has in mind the image of small goldfish that are placed in small round jars and that spend their days going around in circles, but they do not do this without reason, if goldfish do this, it is because these small jars are too small and goldfish are bored and unhappy in such small spaces. To prevent this from happening at home, you must therefore choose from the beginning an aquarium that will be suitable and ideal for the life and well-being of your fish. You should know that goldfish are peaceful fish that can live with many other species by cohabiting peacefully. In addition to this, goldfish are not all red, there are multiple colors among this family of fish, here are some examples:

A goldfish placed in an aquarium that is too small risks, as it grows, becoming dwarfed, that is to say that it will grow much less than normal, or even stop growing at all. It also risks living much less long (only a few years), instead of the normal lifespan of a goldfish which can reach on average 30-35 years.

To avoid these problems, we will therefore redirect you to aquariums of sufficient size and therefore more suitable, or to temporary aquariums of smaller sizes.

First of all, you should know that goldfish like to live in small groups of a few individuals, but they can live alone without too much problem, although it is preferable that they maintain social interactions.

The ideal amount of water for goldfish would be 200L, alone or with a few individuals (3-4 max). But once past a certain age or size, we advise you to leave 200 liters free for a single individual. This will allow it to grow more easily and to be able to live a long time while having sufficient space. It is also possible to place them in smaller aquariums, but for a limited time then, not for their entire life.

However, if you decide to go for an aquarium of at least 200L or more while having one or a few goldfish, you will have the possibility of mixing them with a lot of other species with which they can coexist without any problem.

Among the aquariums we offer, there is a range of HighLine 200L from the Oase brand (presented above and available in several colors).
This is exactly the minimum size recommended for goldfish, so it would be a good choice if you want to provide for a few small goldfish or a single adult. Some of these aquariums come with a cabinet that is perfectly suited to discreetly install all your filtration equipment. This will allow you to place, in addition to a sufficiently large aquarium , all the devices necessary for its proper maintenance. Some models are also available separately, without the cabinet.

If you choose a larger aquarium, either because you prefer to leave space for your fish or to be able to integrate other species in addition to goldfish, the Oase HighLine range also offers larger models.
Here are the different HighLine models over 200L :

On the other hand, if you want to place them in a smaller aquarium (as said previously), this is possible, but they will not be able to stay there their entire life under penalty of ending up in poor health, however if you place them there for only a short time this is possible, but we advise you not to go below 150 liters +-.

The HighLine range from Oase therefore always offers several solutions approaching this volume (between 150 and 200L) and therefore the minimum conditions necessary for the well-being of your goldfish.

The Superfish brand offers 146L aquariums, which could be suitable as a temporary aquarium for goldfish. The advantage of these aquariums is that they are sold in complete kits, that is to say with all the devices and accessories necessary for the proper start of the aquarium.
This can allow beginners to start in good conditions, while having a good base for the first times of a goldfish. Regulars will also find their happiness thanks to the simplicity of maintenance and use of these models. It is always possible to add additional decorations (In particular thanks to the very varied range of decorations from Superfish) and to put other species of fish, according to your desires and if the conditions necessary for their well-being are favorable.

Here are some aquariums suitable for goldfish available for sale on our site. If you already have an aquarium of sufficient volume, it is also possible to adapt it to the life of a goldfish, or even add it to an aquarium already populated with other species. Remember that goldfish will be more comfortable if they have more space and if they can live in small groups. Once they become larger, do not hesitate to transfer them to a larger aquarium or a pond, if you have the possibility. Their well-being remains the priority.
We hope our guide has helped you find the aquarium that is right for you and your goldfish.
