What aquarium to choose?
First of all, before choosing an aquarium you need to know what you want to do with it and what kind of animal or plant species you want to integrate into it. An aquarium can accommodate different environments and different species, depending on your desires and the space available within it.
An aquarium can be used to contain either only plants, or plants as well as fish or you can do aquascaping in it, or simply be a decorative element. It can also serve as a habitat for an axolotl or a turtle for example. If you want to start on an aquarium and introduce fish you will have to determine the target species before choosing the aquarium, so as not to be limited in your choice after purchasing it. For example, fish like neon fish that need to feed in schools will need a larger aquarium than a single fighter. We will therefore present you with various aquariums that will be suitable for all uses.
Large aquariums can be used in different situations, they are ideal for schooling fish, for community aquariums (aquarium where different species coexist, in an environment adapted to their natural habitat), a planted aquarium, or even for superb aquascaping.
For example, the Oase HighLine aquarium range (from 200 to 600L) is perfect for creating a community of many species of fish.
These models are always supplied with the furniture adapted to it. They allow you to group a large quantity of plants and/or fish, according to your desires. Time in aquarium and an elegant and practical piece of furniture, easily integrating into any room.
Eheim Proxima aquariums (from 175 to 325L) are also a great choice for creating a vibrant underwater world in your home.
They are also supplied with a piece of furniture adapted to their size and allowing the integration of all the equipment and supplies necessary for the maintenance of the aquarium.
As for an aquarium suitable for aquascaping, there are ranges that are totally adapted to this type of project, such as the Oase Scaperline range or the Superfish Home range.
These aquariums are/or can be open on the top in order to fully exploit the potential of the art of aquascaping. In addition, their relatively large volume for some of them can allow you to place a few fish in addition to the natural decor that you may have reproduced inside.
Above are some examples of aquascaping created in Oase ScaperLine .
This range of aquariums from Oase is literally designed for all aquascaping enthusiasts, from beginners to the most experienced enthusiasts. The glasses are designed to highlight all the natural colors that you could find in the environment you have created.
And there is no cover on the tops, which allows plants and/or aquascaping decorations to extend out of the aquarium (a fairly common practice in aquascaping).
The aquarium is also sold with or without suitable furniture. The furniture adapts perfectly to any decoration and allows to highlight the aquarium located on top of it.
As for the HOME series from Superfish, these are aquariums with smaller capacities (from 8 to 110L). They are also designed for aquascaping with a removable lid to allow it to be left open or closed as desired.
They also come with LED lighting and an integrated filter, the cartridge of which is very easy to use. The lighting can be controlled via a remote control for models 65, 85 and 110. Its sleek design allows it to easily integrate into the decor.
If you want a more conventional sized aquarium to house a few fish that don't need to school or require a large space to live well, then there are many aquariums between 50 and 200 litres that will suit your needs perfectly.
The StyleLine range from Oase as well as the Superfish Start range are superb pieces for people with some knowledge of aquarium keeping or for novices wishing to discover the world of aquariums with pieces of good sizes that can accommodate various species, whether plant or animal.
Both ranges can be accompanied by a cabinet that is perfectly suited to their respective aquariums: with sufficient space for the StyleLine cabinets and an additional basket for the Start cabinets.
These two ranges also contain everything needed to filter/light as well as heat your aquarium: enough to start the aquarium cycle without additional costs.
If you only want to create an aquarium for a single fish or for a few plants, there are different aquariums from 8 to 50L that could be suitable for this type of use. But be careful, aquariums of this size are not suitable for all fish! You should find out about the species that are suitable for small environments.
An aquarium such as the QubiQ 30 (see photo below) can however be perfectly suitable for a single fish (a betta for example).
This model contains an integrated filter to ensure the clarity of the aquarium. Its cover is easy to open and remove for simplified maintenance and why not to allow some plants to stick out. Be careful, however, not to fill it to a height that would allow the fish to get out.
All aquariums are decorative in some sense, usually it is the contents that attract the eye, but there are some aquariums with a more modern look that are themselves part of the decoration of the house. In addition, they are created in such a way as to highlight their contents even if they are located in the center of the room.
These are the BiOrb Aquariums:
These aquariums are really perfect to integrate into the landscape, whether on a desk, a table, in a shelf, they fit everywhere without problem. Their use and maintenance is also extremely simplified compared to most other aquariums. They are designed to simplify the maintenance work as much as possible, in particular thanks to a bottom filter to recover the waste that usually gets stuck at the bottom of the water and pollutes it. And their consumption is also very low, which is also a significant advantage that the series has.
They can be suitable for many fish as well as many plants. The BiOrb range also offers many decorations that can act as a central element in your aquarium.
With these different ranges you should find the aquarium that suits you best. You can find them all on our site, as well as other advice for your fish or the maintenance of your aquarium.
