CHOOSE THE CORRECT DEVICE
The choice of the correct UV-C device is determined by the flow rate of the water. The latter notably determines the intensity of the radiation, expressed in mJ/sec.
The necessary radiation intensity depends above all on the type of pond and its fish population. Scientific studies have shown radiation rates to block microorganisms. For ornamental ponds, you need between 8 and 10 mJ; for swimming pools and for ponds with a lot of fish, it is between 16 and 25 mJ. Many kinds of algae perish from a radiation of 5 mJ. Legionella is rendered harmless at a dosage from 19 mJ. A koi or swimming pond requires a higher dose for the control of harmful organisms.
