The Madame Butterfly wind chime is inspired by the impressive pentatonic melody that closes the popular opera of the same name by Giacomo Puccini. When all is lost, the lead soprano expresses very intense emotions, like the music that culminates this tragic love story.

This wind chime is part of the Magical Mystery Chimes series which follows a musical phenomenon called octave splitting. What does it consist of ? You probably know the Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La-Si-Do range; the "C" notes that appear at the beginning and end of the scale are actually the same note, but separated by an octave. Notes that are one octave apart are considered harmonic equivalents; when played together, the sound is extraordinarily beautiful. In the series of chimes of the Magical Mysteries, this concept is taken to the extreme since each note is combined with the corresponding double octave.
