Premium Drum Filter XL - Aquaforte
Why the XL AquaForte drum filter?
- Extra low mounting height of just 10cm above water level.
- Separate, replaceable 75 micron filter elements.
- Professional software control.
- Suitable for pump and gravity fed installations.
- Max flow 35m³/h.
- Drum filters are fully automatic pre-filters. Water enters the drum filter through the intake chamber and passes through a drum-shaped screen. The drum has a 75 micron stainless steel filter gauze, which means that dirt particles larger than 0.07 mm do not pass through. These dirt particles adhere to the inner wall of the drum, so that an ever-decreasing amount of water can flow through it. This results in a water level difference between the inside and the outside of the drum. The float switch senses this difference, causing the control unit to start the flushing process. Depending on the degree of soiling, the device itself determines when the nozzles should flush the sieve. The dirt is then evacuated to the sewer. You determine yourself whether the sprinklers flush with tap water (minimum pressure 1.5 bar) or clean pond water. The filtered water passes through the screen and is then routed to the main filter.
- Completely made of PP
- Control unit with dedicated software including many safety options like slow start for motor, motor amperage protection, manual flush button, standard 1 flush per hour etc.
- 48 VDC motor.
- Suitable for pump-fed and gravity-fed installations (both inlet and drum chambers have a mounting yoke). Float easily adjustable in height.
- Equipped with overflow protection.
- Inlet 3 x Ø110 mm, outlet 2 x Ø110 mm.
- Only 1 cable from the control unit to the drum filter (it splits into 3 cables: motor, float and cover switch).
- Fitted with lid switch (disconnects voltage to motor, flush pump connections and UV-C for safety).
- Compact body (L x W x H): 62 x 62 x 55 cm.
FACILITY
Make sure that the drum filter is placed on a firm and flat (level!) substrate. The drum filter is suitable for both gravity and pump feeding. As standard, the float is mounted in the drum chamber in case of gravity installation. For gravity installation, the mounting height above the water level is at least 10 cm from the top of the drain gutter (see figure). The top of the drain gutter provides the maximum physical water level barrier (when the pump is not in use). If the filter is placed lower, the water automatically flows through this gutter to the drain! A safe limit is 1-2 cm below this edge of the drain gutter. Take into account that when the pump is switched off, water is still moving in the piping, which can cause the water level to “fluctuate” so that some water can flow out through the gutter.
The drum filter has 3 inlets of Ø110 mm. When you are not using all 3 inlets, it is recommended to leave the middle inlet sealed. Water does not flow directly into the drum via the left and right inlets, but enters it through the wall of the intake chamber, allowing water to flow more slowly through the drum. When using all inlets, it is recommended that the line with the lowest flow rate be connected to the middle inlet (such as a skimmer or the bottom drain furthest from the drum filter). It is recommended that all inlets of the drum filter be fitted with a knife gate valve so that the flow can be regulated separately per inlet.
TIP: it is also recommended to evacuate directly to the sewer each incoming pipe separately, so, for example, to be able to rinse the bottom drains directly without overloading the rest of the filtration system. (See the example diagram of the gravity installation).
If you want to use the filter in a pump-fed installation, you must move the float switch from the drum chamber to the float yoke in the inlet chamber. When doing this, turn the float 180 degrees (see figure). In a pump-fed installation, also ensure that the overflow pipe with sleeve is placed at the correct height. In the event of a break, this overflow pipe ensures that the water (unfiltered) flows to the drum chamber and then back to the pond.
The drum filter body is made of PP; it is impossible to use glue (PVC). Use standard sewer sleeve fittings or flexible waste fittings (ask your supplier for advice).
The controller unit is splash-proof (IP65) and should be mounted dry, out of direct sunlight.
