Quel aquarium pour des poissons rouges?

Which aquarium for goldfish?

Are you wondering what is the ideal aquarium for your goldfish(ies)? Then this guide is here to help.

Everyone has in mind the image of little goldfish that you put in little round jars and spend their days going around in circles, but they don't do that for no reason, if goldfish do that, it's It's because those little bowls are too small and the goldfish are bored and unhappy in such small spaces. To prevent this from happening in your home, you must therefore choose an aquarium from the start that will be suitable and ideal for the life and well-being of your fish. You should know that goldfish are peaceful fish that can live with many other species by cohabiting peacefully. In addition to this, goldfish are not all red, there are multiple colors among this family of fish, of which here are some examples:

A goldfish placed in an aquarium that is too small runs the risk, as it grows, of being affected by dwarfism, that is to say that it will grow much less than normal, or even stop growing at all. It is also likely to live much shorter (a few years only), instead of the normal lifespan of a goldfish which can reach on average 30-35 years.

To avoid these problems we will therefore redirect you to aquariums of sufficient size and therefore more suitable, or to temporary aquariums of smaller sizes.

First, you should know that goldfish like to live in small groups of a few individuals, but they can without too many problems live alone even if it is preferable that they keep social interactions.

The ideal in terms of quantity of water for goldfish would be 200L, alone or with a few individuals (3-4 max). But once past a certain age or a certain size, we advise you to leave 200 Liters free for a single individual. This will allow him to grow more easily and to be able to live a long time while having sufficient space. It is also possible to place them in smaller aquariums, but for a limited time then, not for their entire life.

However, if you decide to go for an aquarium of at least 200L or more while having one or few goldfish, you will have the possibility of mixing them with a lot of other species with which they can cohabit without any problem.

Among the aquariums we offer, there is a range of HighLine 200L from the Oase brand (presented above and available in several colors).
This is exactly the recommended minimum size for goldfish, so it would be a good choice if you want to support a few small goldfish or a single adult. Some of these aquariums are supplied with a piece of furniture perfectly adapted to be able to install all your filtration equipment in complete discretion. This will allow you to place, in addition to a sufficiently large aquarium , all the devices necessary for the proper maintenance of it. Some models are also available separately, without the cabinet.

If your choice is for a larger volume aquarium, either because you prefer to leave space for your fish, or to be able to integrate other species in addition to goldfish, the HighLine range from Oase also offers models larger volumes.
Here are the different HighLine models over 200L :

On the other hand, if you want to place them in a smaller aquarium (as said before), this is possible, but they cannot stay there all their lives or risk being in poor health, however if you place them -there for a short time only this is possible, but we do not recommend that you go below 150 liters +-.

The HighLine range from Oase therefore always offers several solutions approaching this liter (Between 150 and 200L) and therefore the minimum conditions necessary for the well-being of your goldfish.

The Superfish brand offers 146L aquariums, which could be suitable as a temporary aquarium for goldfish. The advantage of these aquariums is that they are sold in complete kits, that is to say with all the devices and accessories necessary for the proper start of the aquarium.
This can allow neophytes to start in good conditions, while having a good basis for the first times of a goldfish. The regulars will also find their happiness thanks to the simplicity of maintenance and use of these models. It is always possible to add additional decorations (especially thanks to Superfish's very varied range of decorations) and to put other species of fish, according to your wishes and if the conditions necessary for their well-being are favorable.

Here are the few aquariums suitable for goldfish available for sale on our site. If you already have an aquarium of sufficient volume, it is also possible to adapt it to the life of a goldfish, or even to add it to an aquarium already populated by other species. Remember that goldfish will be more comfortable if they have more space and can live in small groups. Once they get bigger, don't hesitate to transfer them to a larger aquarium or a pond, if you have the possibility. Their well-being remains the priority.
We hope our guide has helped you find the right aquarium for you and your goldfish(es).
