Comment éviter l'eau verte dans mon bassin?

How do I avoid green water in my pond?

Green water is caused by microscopic algae (sometimes filamentous) which reproduces very quickly and exponentially. Often green water can be caused by low KH value, too high pH value and stagnant plant growth. Green water is often found in new pools with water rich in nutrients (phosphates and nitrates).

What are the effective methods to combat green water?

  • Check your water quality and use of bacteria (bactogen type)
  • Check that your filtration system is suitable for ponds and contains bacteria carriers (activation of micro-organisms)
  • Use phosphate plants (real nitrate and phosphate pump), water lilies and marsh plants
  • Make sure your KH is at least 8 and at least 12 for your GH (more stable pH which will play less yo-yo).
  • Changing the UV lamp (3W for 1000L of water). A UV lamp loses 40% of its power per season, if the UV is undersized, remember to change the bulb and clean it.

Are you hesitating? Send us some photos of your pool. We will be happy to guide you to obtain clear and limpid water.
