Pond aeration quote: the information to provide and the points to compare

Two quotes may propose very different units for the same pond. To compare them usefully, you need to describe the need and verify what is included. The price of the machine alone does not always represent the cost of an operational installation.
Assemble a simple file
Prepare a sketch of the pond’s outline, approximate lengths, and several depths. Indicate bays, water inflows, and the drop in level during summer. Add a few photos taken from different sides and a view of the area where the equipment could be installed.
Describe the problem: fish in distress, stagnation, landscaping needs, or support for a maintenance program. Mention available analyses and previous interventions. A request for “aerator for 2,000 m²” leaves too many variables open.
Provide the technical constraints
Specify the distance to the power supply, its known type, access routes, and places where a compressor could be positioned. Do not assume that an existing cable or extension cord is suitable. The connection must be assessed for the equipment and environment concerned.
Add noise constraints, schedules, users, and the person responsible for maintenance. An installation that is suitable on paper must also be capable of being monitored and maintained on site.
Compare the quote line items
| Section | Verification |
|---|---|
| Unit | Reference, power, and operating conditions. |
| Diffusion or mooring | Planned quantity, accessories, and placement. |
| Pipes and cables | Lengths, fittings, and included components. |
| Commissioning | Installation, adjustment, and start-up instructions. |
| Operation | Planned operating hours, maintenance, and consumables. |
| Monitoring | Measurements or checks for verifying the objective. |
A standalone air pump and an assembly equipped with diffusers are not directly comparable. Clearly ask what remains to be purchased, installed, or approved on site.
Ask what the sizing is based on
The proposal should explain the link between the equipment and the pond’s characteristics. For diffusion, look for information on depth, available pressure, and the flow rate of the complete system. For a surface unit, check in particular the installation limitations and the desired circulation.
An advertised number of square meters is not a universal guarantee. Ask which parameters could change the selection: minimum level, fish, geometry, or poorly mixed areas.
Quantify usage, then decide
Calculate consumption from the power in kW, operating hours and your electricity rate. Add maintenance, wear parts and any potential seasonal operations. Compare identical scenarios so as not to artificially contrast a solution operating for a few hours with another intended for continuous use.
Before ordering, confirm the references and included items on the current product page. To prepare your request to Foudebassin, gather your sketch, photos and available measurements via the contact page. Any missing information can be indicated as such; it will be more useful than an estimate presented as certain.
References to consider for your project
These references are intended for different uses. Consult the specifications, variants and current manuals before choosing.
Aquitechnics pond airlift

Worth considering for a surface aeration project. The choice of version and placement must take into account the site's depths and constraints.
Secoh JDK-S 150 air pump

Air pump to be selected together with the diffuser network. The nominal flow rate does not eliminate the need to check the system's pressure and losses.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know the exact volume before asking for advice?
Provide the available data and its limitations. Several depths and an approximate outline are enough to prepare the discussion.
Is the cheapest quote necessarily the most economical?
Compare the complete solution, its consumption and its maintenance. The price of the unit alone is not enough.
