Bali Wind Chime - 68CM

This wind chime is tuned to the traditional Saih Gender Wayang scale which is used in Balinese puppet theater and other religious rituals in Indonesia. In 2003, UNESCO inscribed Wayang Kulit, the most famous Indonesian shadow puppet theatre, on the list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The first written mention of this thousand-year-old art dates from the year 930. In connection with the rich oral tradition of the tales of Bali, it has adapted over the centuries according to each new religion introduced on the islands, the Hinduism first then Islam. The Wayang is not a spectacle in the Western sense of the term but rather a ritual which generally lasts a whole night.
