Vase cover for cleaning aquariums from 10 to 35 cm in height

  • Small, but very effective silt cover for sucking up impurities in small aquariums.
  • Use: hold the vase bell in the water, briefly suck on the end of the hose to prime it and the water flows into the bucket. Immerse the bell jar in the soil of the aquarium. The waste is drawn out of the ground by the suction.
  • The square shape also makes it possible to suck up dirt in the corners of the aquarium.
  • Safety for animals: removable protective screen, preventing accidental suction of plants, shrimps and fish.
  • Included in delivery: 1 vase bell, diam. 35 mm, height 12.5 cm, with 1.5 m hose supplied (9/12 mm).

Regular water change
Food or plant residues and metabolic products pollute the aquarium water. Since aquarium filters cannot completely remove these substances from the water and a large part of the impurities settles at the bottom of the aquarium, it is necessary to regularly make a partial water change (1/3 water approximately every 15 days). This water change should always be combined with vacuuming dirt from the substrate. It is then essential to use a good water conditioner, such as JBL Biotopol, to adapt the new tap water to the fish.

Easy to use

Hang the bell jar in the aquarium, suck it briefly through the end of the hose, then hold it in a bucket. The water then flows into the bucket. Clean the floor with the bell. Finally, simply remove the bell from the water.

Tip: If you don't want to start suctioning through your mouth, you can also submerge the hose until it is full of water, then hold it closed at one end and reopen the closed end above bucket. The water then drains off on its own.

To properly clean the aquarium floor

Push the bell jar into the aquarium soil with circular movements. Substrate and dirt are sucked up into the silt cover. Driven by its own weight, the substrate falls back and only the dirt is sucked up. For fine sand, you can adjust the suction by lifting the silt bell so that the light sand also falls by gravity.

A sieve integrated in the bell prevents fish or shrimp from being inadvertently sucked in. The sieve can be removed for cleaning. If you use a long-acting fertilizer under the gravel cover layer (e.g. JBL PROFLORA AQUA BASIS), you should avoid pushing the bell jar into the ground until it hits the bottom pane, and you won't go deeper than the thickness of the soil substrate layer.
