Pamper your tortoises by giving them healthy food

Tortoises are foodies and won't eat just anything, but they do like some things that they shouldn't. For example, tomatoes, bananas, citrus fruits and meaty foods are off limits.
The composition of the JBL PROTERRA food range was developed in collaboration with Petra Kölle, a veterinary surgeon at the University of Munich, and specialist tortoise breeders. Palatability tests showed that tortoises clearly preferred the food from the JBL PROTERRA range to all other foods offered. Because even if a food has a perfect composition from a nutritional physiological point of view, it must first be accepted by the animal!
The natural scent and especially the colours of the dried flowers create a huge appetite, even in very picky tortoise species. With the JBL PROTERRA FLORSIL, your tortoises get an ideal complete food. Of course, you can also collect greenery and herbaceous plants in summer to supplement the basic diet. The other JBL PROTERRA food varieties: VEGABIL, FRUCTIL and HERBIL are an ideal and species-appropriate supplement to the JBL PROTERRA FLORSIL. Variety is welcome for all tortoises.

JBL expeditions often provide an opportunity to visit tortoise habitats, whether in deserts or, more often, in tropical wetlands. Observations made about their lifestyle and eating habits are incorporated into the development of JBL food varieties. This information, taken directly from nature, is extremely valuable, as it is hardly available otherwise. The aim should always be to care for the animals in a species-appropriate manner and, ideally, to ensure their offspring in order to reduce the amount of harvesting from the wild. While the breeding of some species is not absolutely necessary, because the species sold commercially are bred or their population is not endangered, JBL considers it desirable to ensure the breeding of pets.
