🌱 How to plant a water lily?
- Make a mixture of substrate and potting soil.
- Place the burlap in the basket and put some soil at the bottom.
- Fill the basket to the top with the soil-potting mix.
- Leave some space for the gravel on the surface.
- Place the water lily rhizome on the surface. The rosette should not be buried.
- Cut the burlap 10 cm from the basket and fold the edges over the soil.
- Place gravel on the surface to hold the soil in place. This step is especially important if you have koi carp that might eat the rhizome and leaves of the plant before it has a chance to grow.
- Submerge the water lily. Allow 60 to 80 cm of depth so the water lily never freezes, and 30 to 40 cm if it is a dwarf variety.
💡 Some little ideas to guide you:
- It is interesting to choose plants with different flowering periods, so you have flowers throughout the season.
- Why not try choosing plants of different sizes, some creeping and others much taller. It adds dimension!
- Keep in mind that a plant needs space; the more you give it, the more beautiful it will be. So work with large baskets.
- Very important: strictly follow the planting depth, indicated in each of our sheets.
