Proper nutrition is essential to optimize the beautiful colors of koi. An appropriate content of spirulina microalgae in the food promotes saturation and intensification of colors as well as a clear separation of the different color zones. The white areas are bright, without turning yellow.

Spirulina consists of more than 50% protein, contains all essential amino acids as well as many unsaturated fatty acids. In addition, this algae is characterized by a great diversity of vitamins and minerals. Astaxanthin, for example, promotes colors, especially red areas. Astaxanthin is a vitamin-like pigment, which strengthens the immune system, is an antioxidant and promotes fertility. For its food, sera uses exclusively the natural variant of astaxanthin, which is highly bioavailable. As a source of astaxanthin, sera mainly uses the algae Haematococcus (60.5 mg astaxanthin per kg of food). However, ingredients such as krill and spirulina also contribute to the supply of astaxanthin and other important pigments.

Koi Professional Color consists of two components: the ring and the core of the food. This is possible thanks to the special co-extrusion process, which combines raw materials that have been processed in different ways. The ring contains high-quality natural ingredients such as spirulina and Haematococcus algae for unique colours and proper nutrition. The core consists of vitamins, minerals and trace elements that are essential for healthy growth and a strong immune system.

The special color food can be given all year round when the water temperature is above 8° degrees.

Koi Professional Range

In its Koi Professional range, sera offers premium koi food, which is tailored to the needs of poikilothermic animals during the different seasons (Spring & Fall, Summer, Winter). In addition, Koi Professional Color and Probiotic are two functional foods, which can be given to fish all year round. Koi Professional Junior has been specially developed to meet the nutritional needs of small koi.

Throughout the year, alternating with seasonal foods, feed several times a week, in small quantities, giving the animals only the amount they can absorb in a short time.

fish meal, corn starch, wheat flour, wheat gluten, spirulina algae (6.3%), wheat germ, brewer's yeast, fish oil, mannan-oligosaccharides (0.4%), Haematococcus algae (corresponds to 60 mg astaxanthin per kg feed), krill meal, nettle, alfalfa, Perna canaliculus flesh meal, seaweed meal, paprika, parsley, spinach, carrots, garlic, fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds, anise seeds.
