The Daruma tradition

The Daruma represents Bodhidharma, a founding figure of Zen Buddhism. According to tradition, one eye is drawn when setting a goal, and the second once it has been achieved. The figurine thus accompanies a personal project and serves as a reminder of the importance of perseverance. The meanings of the colors stem from this symbolic tradition.

Manufacturing and presentation

The figurines are designed in Japan and manufactured in Vietnam using Japanese recycled paper. The display stand is made of wood. The current composition includes 36 figurines in total; the photographs show the different language presentations offered by the supplier.
