The brazier for your garden

If you have a garden and want to add a personal touch to it, you can opt for the installation of a brazier. So, what is the brazier, how to properly install it and how to use it…We will answer all these questions in this article.

What is a brazier?

The Brazier has existed since the Ancient Greco-Roman period when it was once used as a heater for the poor. Later, it was taken over by the Spaniards who then used it as their main source of heat. The product being made of copper, that is where it got its name “Brasero”.

Installation of the brazier

Choice of location

It is important to place your fire pit on a stable surface such as a concrete, stone or tiled slab. This must be done in order to have optimal stability. You must also take care of safety since you are going to prepare a fire. You must therefore plan the distance, especially if you have children.

Setting up the hearth

To prevent grease from grilled meats from sticking all over the floor, consider placing sand at the very bottom of your tank. This operation will of course have to be repeated after a few minutes of use.

Choice of fuel

There are several types of fire pit fuel you can choose from in the market:

  • Electric
  • With wood or coal
  • Gas
  • Propane

Before lighting your fire, make sure that there are no children nearby because there could be projections.

Use and tips for using the brazier

The Brazier can be used in several ways depending on your needs. For example, it can be used as an outdoor fireplace, barbecue, oven, etc.

Nevertheless, here are some rules of use to follow if you have or use a brazier:

  • Avoid extinguishing the fire with water and prefer sand or earth instead: water can indeed damage the brazier if it is made of terracotta
  • Before each use, remember to remove the lid
  • Heat your brazier with a small fire each time you start it
  • In winter, protect your brazier by putting it in a dry place away from frost, snow, etc... or simply use a tarpaulin

Other useful tips:

  • Be sure to install your brazier outdoors in a secure and stable place
  • Don't forget to put sand at the bottom of your brazier
  • During each use, start by starting with a small fire for 10 to 15 minutes to relax your brazier
  • Avoid overloading your brazier with wood or coal
  • Before moving your brazier, do not forget to remove the sand that is inside and avoid dragging it
