Comment aspirer la vase dans un bassin ?

How to suck up mud in a basin?

Mud is a mixture of several organic materials. It most often comes from the aquatic fauna and flora that inhabit a basin. Generally, in a pond, the presence of mud reflects poor health for it. It must be remembered that the mud is an inseparable element of the pond. And for good reason, it is unfortunately not possible for a pool to escape it.

Afterwards, the slime will probably cause your pond more harm than good. As a result, it is a real priority to rid a pond of sludge that is smothering it from the inside. You will guarantee a healthy environment for aquatic fauna and flora. To rid your pond of silt, several solutions may be appropriate.

Among them, the suction of the silt is one of the most popular. On a regular basis, such a process is done with a pond vacuum cleaner. In this article, we are going to see some useful points to know to effectively vacuum the mud from your pond.

Do not confuse “pond vacuum” and “pond vacuum”

To suck up the silt from your pond, it is essential to use the right tool. In this case, certain materials have been designed and dedicated for this exercise. The recommended tool for vacuuming the mud is generally the pond vacuum cleaner. It's literally the default slime vacuum.

First of all, it will be necessary to avoid confusing the pond vacuum cleaner with another type of vacuum cleaner. And for good reason, many people make the mistake of getting a surface vacuum cleaner, when they want to remove the mud! Before choosing the material that will be used to vacuum the waste and the silt, we must therefore pay attention to a few details.

The pond vacuum cleaner

Equipped with a powerful motor and several nozzles, the pond vacuum cleaner combines several functions. Not only is it used to suck up silt, but it can also be used to suck up decaying weeds and other algae. In other words, this tool intervenes as much in the bottom of the pool as on the surface thereof.

The configuration of the pond vacuum therefore makes it ideal for waste disposal. In the idea, it is a tool imagined so that we can effectively remove the mud from a basin without providing enormous efforts.

The surface vacuum cleaner for ponds

The surface vacuum cleaner is not the most suitable for sucking up mud from a pond. As its name suggests, it is rather intended to work on the surface of the water. It is therefore neither equipped nor adapted to intervene in the depths of the basin. For its part, the surface vacuum cleaner has been designed for cleaning grasses, leaves and other stems floating on the surface of the pool.

Certainly, we can notice that he is able to suck up mud. It is indeed quite possible to try it. The problem is that the surface vacuum cleaner will quickly show its limits. And for good reason, its engine will generally not be powerful enough to handle the mud. He will therefore tire much more quickly, and will take much longer to finish his task.

The surface vacuum cleaner will therefore mainly be used for surface cleaning. In addition to the waste mentioned earlier, it will also suck up floating particles. For the mud and the bottom of the pond in particular, we will favor the pond vacuum cleaner.

Choose your pond vacuum according to your needs

As you might expect, there are many types of pond vacuums available on the market. Nowadays, vacuum cleaner manufacturers are constantly investing in innovating in their field. And these pond vacuums are all as elegant as they are efficient. It is therefore sometimes difficult to find your way between all the models!

The points to define before choosing your pond vacuum cleaner

Beyond aesthetic preferences, it will therefore be necessary to identify your needs beforehand before deciding on a model. To help you guide your choice, start by determining these few points:

  • The type of pool
  • The size of the pool
  • Your personal preferences and tastes
  • Your other expectations, if any
  • And of course, your budget!

The different pond vacuum cleaners

Compared to the different models of pond vacuum cleaners, the different choices offered generally revolve around these parameters:

  • Canisterless vacuum cleaners.
  • Vacuum cleaners with tanks.
  • Uninterrupted vacuum cleaners with dual chamber system.
  • Vacuum cleaners with built-in pumps.

Determine a frequency on which to vacuum the silt from your pond

The suction of mud from a pond must be carried out on a regular basis. By proceeding in a thoughtful and organized way, we will avoid a large part of the inconvenience that mud can cause. For example, it is quite possible to vacuum the mud from a pond every semester.

When should you suck mud from a pond?

At the same time, it is also good to remember that pond vacuuming can stress fish. It is therefore interesting to consider the period of aspiration of the basin, in order to optimize all this.

In practice, the ideal would be to avoid vacuuming the mud during the winter. On the other hand, you can completely consider vacuuming it before winter or even in spring.

Vacuum the silt from your pond

After choosing the model of your pond vacuum cleaner, and determining the right periods, you can go to the last step. More precisely, you can now proceed with the actual suction of the silt from your pool.

Note: before you start vacuuming the mud from your pond, make sure that the vacuum cleaner is not going to suck up fish!

To do this, it's relatively simple: slowly walk your pond vacuum over the entire bottom of the pond. To be performed correctly, this exercise is done like vacuuming a carpet. In this way, the mud will be properly vacuumed.

In practice, your pond vacuum will fill up with mud and dirty water. These then discharge through a drain hose, located at the rear of the vacuum cleaner.

Once you have finished vacuuming the silt, make sure that the biological balance of the pond has not been disturbed too much. You can also use test kits to analyze pond water.

Conclusion

Now you know everything you need to know to correctly vacuum the silt from your pond. In short, it will be necessary to ensure that it is eliminated regularly with the appropriate equipment, and at the right times. The better you vacuum your pond, the healthier it will be.

Cordialement
