Controlling algae in a pond can sometimes be difficult, but with the right habits and the right products on hand, it is possible to maintain clear and healthy pond water. In our “Algae Control” category, you will find products specifically designed to eliminate string algae and floating algae, which are the two most common types of algae in ponds.
Floating algae , which give your pond water a green colour, can be treated in the short term with a flocculant. However, for effective long-term treatment, we recommend installing a UV lamp adapted to your water volume. This will destroy the algae suspended in the water before it even develops, allowing you to enjoy clear and healthy water.
If you are dealing with string algae , it is important to start by testing the water quality of your pond. Once you have corrected the hardness levels if necessary, you can use an algae treatment specifically designed for string algae. It is important to keep your pond well oxygenated during treatment to avoid stress to fish and plants.
